ABOUT
Telford Living has appointed architects JTP and place consultants AND London to engage with the community to co-create a new vision for the comprehensive, residential-led, mixed-use redevelopment of Chrisp Street. The team will then move forward to prepare a new planning application for submission to Tower Hamlets Council early next year.
Following last year’s economic and regulatory uncertainties, there is now confidence that we are in a stronger position to redevelop the site and bring forward much-needed new homes and vibrant ground floor uses to Chrisp Street. We are re-engaging with the community to ensure that residents and businesses have their say in shaping the future of Chrisp Street, so that the resulting redevelopment reflects the needs of residents and businesses, and is fit for the future.
Subject to obtaining planning permission, Telford Living will be able to embark on the next stage of the redevelopment of Chrisp Street over the coming years, bringing the vision to life.
HAVE YOUR SAY
JTP, with AND London, are engaging with the resident and business community to ensure their thoughts and experiences help shape the future vision for Chrisp Street. You can also take part by visiting our interactive online map at chrispstreet.jtpengages.co.uk to share your thoughts about Chrisp Street and the local area – let us know which routes you like to take, where you visit, and the places you enjoy going. To start the process, in April and May 2025 we were regularly out and about, saying hello, introducing ourselves, getting to know you, finding out what you like, don’t like, and your ideas for the future of Chrisp Street.
On Thursday 29 and Saturday 31 May 2025, we then held an activity packed, multi-day community co-design event, to help shape the vision for Chrisp Street. Over 800 people attended, posted comments on a giant wall map, sat down with the design team to draw ideas, and took part in lots of other fun and interactive activities for all age groups.
Following the co-design event, the JTP team analysed and summarised the outcomes to draw up an illustrated vision for Chrisp Street which was reported back at the Summer Saturday events on 26 July 2025 and 30 August 2025.
There will be further opportunities to view and comment on proposals as they are developed in advance of the anticipated planning application submission in early 2026.
